How I feel about New Years Resolutions

2019 is just around the corner, so the whole world is making New Years resolutions again.

For the people against New Years resolutions

I know a lot of people think it is bullshit to have new year resolutions because no one will persevere them. But I actually think it is a good thing, I think it’s good to take some time to reflect on the past year and think about everything you want to change. I understand the people who are against it;  you can change your life any day, even any minute. As long as you want it bad enough and if you are willing to put in all your effort. But I also understand why we do this on this special day.

Why do we do this on New Years Eve?

New Years Eve is just a right moment for new resolutions. In the month of December people reflect on their past year, they think about everything that happend, they think about how much they have grown, if they even have. People start doing this from Christmas to New Years Eve because it is a kind of emotional time. Another year has gone by, maybe this was a year that brought you a lot of pain, but maybe it was a year that brought you a lot of joy. However this year is coming to an end, time goes by so fast. It scares people, to be honest, it scares me too. They start a new year and they can put everything behind them, all the pain, the sorrow, or the joy.

If I look at my life at the beginning of this year and the end of it, almost everything has changed. I changed everything. I lost a lot of things and people this year but I couldn’t feel any happier then I am now. You must accept that sometimes you have to let people go because you have outgrown them and they can’t help you grow as a person anymore. I believe that any relationship you have, with anyone, should encourage you to grow, to become a better person or let you chase your dreams. They should inspire you.

My favorite inspiration quotes:

  • ‘Do something everyday that brings you closer to your goals.’
  • ‘You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.’
  • ‘The woman you are becoming will cost you people, relationships, spaces and material things. Choose her over everything.’
  • ‘Some days, she has no idea how she will do it. But every single day, it still gets done.’
